Situated in the picturesque Surrey Hills and nestled between the historic town of Farnham & the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Bel & The Dragon Churt is a beautifully restored Country Inn with eighteen beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms and an attractive, spacious bar & restaurant. The building perfectly emulates the groups’ (these guys have more than one location on their books) distinctly cosy and classic style and with an additional cottage onsite which is newly renovated with a five-bedroom annexe which allows the property to cater for individual or group bookings.
With a venue that we found so perfect for all types of events both personal and corporate, Bel & The Dragon Churt had a lot to live up to, especially as we were promised a rural hideaway within a 50 minute train journey of South London. So did it live up to expectation? Well….yes…and we already want to go back.
Whether you are booking for yourself, friends or family, for a corporate team building away day or for a staycation for the boss, Bel & The Dragon Churt is only a hop, skip and jump from Clapham Junction with everything you need to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city. Think roaring log fires, plaid upholstery, exceptional food, one of the best and most reasonably priced wine lists we have ever seen and added extra’s thrown in such as vintage whiskey, we are urging you to spend your next weekend away at this stunning property.
Upon arrival we were greeted by an exceptional level of customer service from the front of house team. The passion from our hosts was overwhelmingly refreshing allowing us to immediately relax and soak up the romantic ambience from the log fire in the lobby.
Settling into one of the eighteen ensuite rooms named after characters created by famous writers – Austen, Darcy etc, the complimentary vintage whiskey and sloe gin added that slight twist to really set the bar for a relaxing weekend.
Serving breakfast, lunch and supper, Bel & The Dragon Group Head Chef Ronnie Kimbugwe has created a series of menus full of twists on an array of classic British dishes, with a focus on local, sustainable and, above all, quality ingredients. The restaurant with its open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs at work, adding a touch of culinary theatre to the dining experience all guests can enjoy throughout the day.
Wondering if The Bel & Dragon Churt has a private dining room? Tick! The cosy PDR is perfect for corporate gatherings and celebrations with family and friends with an array of menus including feasting or set menus.
Working our way through the West Country Rib of Beef with Roast Garlic, Vine Tomatoes & Horseradish Thyme & Duck Fat Roast Potatoes over a bottle of house red, it was an evening occasion that we could enjoy in the company of a buzzing dining room. Finishing on Baked Alaska flambéed at our table, if you could imagine an evening more romantic than our night spent at Bel & The Dragon, it would be a miracle.
Not only do guests come from far and wide to this beautiful property for the warm welcome and wonderful food and drink, but also for the array of events in the social calendar of the property. Think Laurent Perrier Supper Clubs, guest speakers which would blow your minds and cocktail masterclasses. It is an all in one that surpasses expectation at every turn.
