Eating at: Nobu Hotel Shoreditch

”10/10! Hotel facilities were beautiful, great place for Execs to stay as well as for personal bookings. Very clean and great aura!” – Executive Assistant, Amazon

Newly opened and about to celebrate it’s first Birthday, Nobu Hotel Shoreditch has already achieved what many thought would be impossible when challenging East London’s hospitality industry – classic luxury in an area known for its creative and industrial vibe. If you’re trying to picture how such an iconic brand known for its star studded crowds and the glitz and glam associated with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s world renowned sushi dishes, fits into the East London scene you are not alone. Yet East London is what makes Nobu Hotel Shoreditch and with the facade being a combination of glass, concrete and cantilevered steel beams on Willow Street (a 5 minute car journey from Liverpool Street or 5 minute walk from Old Street tube station), Nobu Hotel fits perfectly into the surrounding area.

With private dining and event spaces for up to 200 with 141 guestrooms and 7 suites, the hotel is an extension of the renowned hotel and restaurant portfolio headed by Tokyo-trained celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and actor and director Robert De Niro.

Needless to say, the hotel’s culinary program steals the show here—a show that includes a design homage to Shoreditch’s industrial heritage, augmented by Japanese artistry: Chef Nobu’s signature Japanese-Peruvian dishes pull in star-studded crowds at the eponymous restaurant and bar—which also includes a chef’s table, a sushi counter, and an outdoor courtyard—while a fireside Lobby Lounge & Bar offers small bites and handcrafted cocktails in a more casual setting.

Each of the guest rooms exudes refined, relaxed sophistication, linking timeless design with contemporary functionality. Black joinery contrasts with the exposed concrete structure and soft textiles of the furniture to create an interior that is at once visually appealing to sight and touch. This is juxtaposed with the bright white bathrooms, featuring a walk-in rain shower and stunning custom-designed gold washbasin. Nobu Hotel Shoreditch also features unique suites overlooking the courtyard and pocket garden from their own private balconies. These dynamic spaces have been meticulously designed to embrace the property’s distinctive architecture with Japanese aesthetic subtleties. The largest suite is the exclusive Nobu Suite, featuring two private balconies with views across London’s iconic skyline, a dining area, a lounge, and a bathtub.

”I would definitely use the restaurant for personal and work purposes – I love the more private areas which are behind curtains so you still feel part of the restaurant whilst still maintaining that element of privacy.” – Executive Assistant, UniLad

If in room dining is not your style and a reservation in the main dining area is your reason to visit, the interior of this area is inspired by the creativity and vibrancy of Shoreditch itself. Reached via a grand staircase, the main bar and restaurant at Nobu Shoreditch is bathed in natural light from the five-metre tall glass doors leading out to the charming Nobu Terrace. Perfect for open air dining, the terrace, which can entertain up to 80 people, is split into four level terraces and available for private functions – perfect for any celebration including corporate summer parties and soirees. Guests can also enjoy the semi-private dining space (which has our full seal of approval) overlooking the custom-built, open kitchen. Hosting up to 18 people, this is the perfect spot from which to experience the theatre of the Nobu kitchen and see the magic that happens behind the scenes. Behind the Nobu Shoreditch bar, you will find an eclectic collection of vintage sakes, limited edition Japanese whiskies and rare champagnes, all displayed for the discerning drinker.

Catering for every need, both personal and corporate, Nobu Hotel Shoreditch has an adaptable collection of meeting and event spaces which can cater to a range of occasions, from family celebrations to business conferences/away days, boasting an abundance of natural light and a versatility.  This area can be used as one large space, accommodating 200 people for a cocktail reception or 120 for a seated event, or divided into six separate spaces, perfect for break out areas or individual group sessions.

Does Nobu Hotel Shoreditch tick the boxes we have when it comes to earning our trust for corporate bookings? 100%. If you’re going to book your Directors for a trip to this abode, expect a 5* review on their return.
